Escape, Turtle, Acapulco, Camelot, Mare monte and Sunset beach are remarkable among many beautiful beaches in Kyrenia. There are some beautiful coastline in the Kyrenia area and many different beaches to choose from. Although they are little bit far from the main city but it is possible to take a taxi or public minibüs. There are sandy beaches with many facilities or quieter beaches for those of you who want to be alone. Most beaches provide excellent conditions for swimming and snorkeling.
Escape is about 5 miles westwards off Kyrenia towards Alsancak. If you drive towards Alsancak, you will spot a well-signed Escape beach board. This is also known as Yavuz Cikarma Plaji. You will need to pay about 10 YTL as an entrance fee. Among the water sports that can be practiced here are jet skiing, banana ride, canoes, pedal boats or scuba diving. This clean beautiful sandy beach is equipped with volleyball area, restaurant and bar. Especially popular with young people, as there are open air night parties with club music by European Djs held every summer.
Alagadi Turtle Beach lies still further east, about 10 miles from Kyrenia and you do not need to pay the entrance fee there. It is a beautiful public beach with two views to die for; turn away from the sea for a wonderful view of the Five Finger Mountains. This is one of the major public beaches in Northern Cyprus where the turtles come to nest and that’s why this is called “Turtle Beach”. This is the longest stretch of sandy beach on the northern coast, and is fringed by sand dunes. The facilities are limited but there is Green Turtles Beach Bar which is operating during summer and you will find also toilets there.
Acapulco lies about 6 miles to the east of Kyrenia. It is belongs to the holiday village Acapulco resort hotel, and its well worth the entrance fee to sit on such a pristine North Cyprus sandy beach. It’s almost picture perfect, with the bay book-ended with rocky points, and a gently shelving sandy beach slipping gently into the warm Mediterranean waters. This is a popular tourist beach, offering most facilities, but supervision of children swimming is recommended as there is an undertow. Windsurfing is available
Camelot is about 8 miles westwards off Kyrenia in Alsancak. On the right hand side you will find a big white sign of Camelot Beach Club. Although there is an entrance fee, on Camelot Beach which is family friendly you are provided with water sports like scuba diving, banana ride, jet skiing or water skiing. This is well maintained, with sun shades and beds, restaurant and bar and you can enjoy live music in the club until the early hours
Mare Monte Beach
Mare Monte Hotel beach lies some 10 miles west of Kyrenia, and provides all the facilities the visitor requires such as bar, shower, sun loungers, sunshades etc. This is directly in front of the Mare Monte Beach Hotel which has been once again awarded the Blue Flag award! For the coastal environment, water quality, safety and access for all: the Blue Flag represents a serious and profound commitment to both people and the environment.
This is is located about 5 miles to the west of Kyrenia, past the sloping concrete monument beyond Karaoglanoglu. The senset beach has sweeping sands, with shallow water suitable for children. It is adjacent to the Altinkaya fish restaurant. This is well protected and ideal for tiny tots. There are bar, restaurant, Toilets and showers.
